Reviewed by: achimt, Scratch Golfer Summary: Pula Golf is a great golf course. I must say that I work + practice here every day. I became a member 2006 (it is public)when it was at its best. At that time the course was comparable to many championship courses. Right now, the course offers a fantastic challenge for all kinds of players. You can warm up at the driving range, which provides mats + grass tees from the back. The chipping area is not in good shape + the practice bunker not existent. Both you might not need for a casual round. Putting greens are always in perfect condition. Currently I would say the tee boxes are not the best. They function, but def. they are not taken care of well enough. Sames counts for the greens, which I think are slow and full of little sand or so. Most fairways are excellent. They are cut on a regular basiss. The rough is always good + it is cut shorter now, so the normal golfer can actually find his ball + maybe play it. I think that the trees, flowers and the entire surroundings need more care but still look typical spanish and are beautiful. The ponds unfortunately are not as beautiful as they could be, meaning they would need some cleaning and care. But they are good hazards. Most bunkers are good, but some are not drained well, which makes them unplayable. There is now 2 toilet houses on the course, which helps big time. Still there is no drinks to get on the course or vending machines along the way. This is a problem with the heat on this island. It is good to play + because there is hardly anyone on this course, you can take your time and enjoy the views. Play at your own pace almost. The carts are great + have gps. They are in good shape. Pull carts are there and seem alright. The range is fine, the balls however are old and many are faulty. It just does not look good + the range would need some help as well. I would play it, but always ask for a discount. It is not worth 100 Euros in my opinion.
Pula Suites is a 5 star hotel next to it. You might get a discount staying there. Also when you stay in other hotels in the area you will get up to 30 %. Contact me for a list or info.
I love this course. It is my home course. For tourists it might not be the first choice at this point. But if you like to experience a tough course in spanish ambiente and a beautiful landscape, try it out. It will for sure challenge your game.
In regards to ammenities. There is showers ( not in great shape , but working), restaurantes and bistro etc.
My over all rating is not the best at this point, but might change over time. But I do suggest to play it because of its wonderful views and its challenge.
Customer Service: The peopel on the front desk are nice. However, they are not golfers. They do good service for what they have to do. Best service you get from the caddie master. Great young guy from Brazil. He takes care, laughs and cleans your clubs. Great experience there. The pro shop is leased out to U'S Golf. Nice chain. Service is not pretty good, prices are way to high and the selection is pour. However, you get used balls, which you might want to take for this course. Peopel in the restaurantes are very nice and do the best they can. There is not much going on which makes it tough for them.
Dieter Calbus is the PGA Pro on the course. Nice guy. I have no idea how he is teaching, but he charges about 70 Euros. You can ofcourse get a lesson scheduled with myself. Similar Courses Played: It is hard to compare this specific course with other courses on Mallorca. Simply because of the setting and because this course was made for the tournament while the others are made for the tourists.
