| | Reviewed by: Karen, Shoot in the 90s, from Muskegon, MI Summary: Still one of my favorite courses to play, and I'm fortunate enough to live 30 minutes away. It truly is a hidden gem. Each hole is isolated, so you feel like you're by yourself. Challenging layout, but not impossible. The red tees are very fair. Course is typically in great condition. During rainy times of the year, there are a few drainage problems/wet areas, but not too many. Customer Service: Tee times are easy to get. We usually call the day before and take advantage of GREAT twilight rates. Similar Courses Played: Restaurant-has beautiful views of the course, has a western theme throughout. Many very interesting decor items. Worth just dropping in to see. (Service is always slow, however) The pro shop is top notch.

| | Reviewed by: Joe Zons, Shoot in the 80s, from Kenosha, WI, USA Summary: My friend Dave who lives in Holland introduced me to this course. It is the hidden gem of Michigan. The price is way too low for the caliber of course this is. The second hole, a sweeping par four dogleg left around a marsh, is probably my most favorite golf hole of all time.
Because this course is fairly remote, there are not too many rounds played here, so the course conditions are fabulous. Tee boxes are well maintained, the fairways are the best I have ever played on (good divots are easy to take) and the greens roll true and hold approach shots well.
The course is surrounded by pine trees and weaves through the Double JJ dude ranch, which makes for a scenic track.
I have played many of the Golf Digest 5 star public courses, like Blackwolf, Dubsdread, and Pinon Hills, and Thoroughbred is right with those big boys. Customer Service: Tee times were a snap and the course regularly sends me a newletter about the ranch and other year round events. Similar Courses Played: Accompanying housing (the loft) is adequate and located right on the practice range.
