| | Reviewed by: daemonizer, Shoots in the 80s Summary: Enjoyable, playable desert course. I've always heard underwhelming reports about this course, but I was pleasantly surprised with it. There are some interesting shots here- angled and semi-blind fairways, trees in the fairway making accurate drive placement important... The signature holes are two par 4's and a par 5 up the side of the mountain. Incredible views, somewhat quirky designs, but entertaining. Overall the course is a little short at 6850, but it has a good variety of holes to keep you guessing. Their membership rates are very high however, I'm shocked there are golfers who would pay $130K+ to join here as full members. Of course you don't have to buy a lot so maybe it's not such a bad deal... Customer Service: Very very good. Impressive when the "club cleaner" wouldn't accept money, "We're a no tipping club". Classy. Drinks & some food on the course is a nice touch. Similar Courses Played: I would rank this course in the second tier of the North Scottsdale private courses, in league with Mirabel, Estancia, and the like. IMHO the first tier includes Desert Highlands at the top, with Whisper Rock "upper", Troon and perhaps a couple others. Given DC Ranch's slightly downtrodden reputation, it's a pretty good showing!
