Reviewed by: Tim Nelson, Shoot in the 80s, from Denver, CO Summary: What GREAT, GREAT course. Rated by many as the best public track in Denver, and easy to see why. Excellent design, outstanding service, varied terrain, from links style to mountain course style, and always in good shape. Theo nly part about it that is rough is that one green was trampled by a local Elk herd! The greens are outstanding, with multi tiered levels, hidden slopes, and generally fast speeds. The design itself offers "go for it" shots with penalties, but also gives realistic lay up areas. It's one of those courses where you could shoot an 80 one day, and a 90 the next.
The fron 9 is a typical American links course, with scrub oak, bunkers, target iron shot needs, and wide, rolling greens. The back 9 just might jsut be the prettiest 9 in the state. With mountain views, elevated tee-boxes, rock juttings, and canyon carries, as well as mostly in Pine timber, it is just awesome. The course actaully looks harder than it is, but that is part of the fun. Keep egos in check and play smart. A good short game is a must here.
The price is a little steep, but if you have the chance, you HAVE to play at least once. Similar Courses Played: great resteraunt and bar. Sit on the deck and look out at Devils head, the front range, and Pikes Peak.
