| | Reviewed by: massey, Shoots in the 70s Summary: Apparently things haven't changed much from the two reviews below. I got tired of sitting in my Reno hotel room on a record hot (108) July 4th afternoon, and decided to try out Carson Valley, figuring the tree lined river would offer a nice flat walk and breezes and shade as respite from the heat. That is exactly what I got. The course is short and funky, and you barely need a driver--errant shots may need to be played out of someone's back yard, as the course winds through an older modest housing area. Greens rolled decently. I felt it was very overpriced, especially considering the quality of some other local courses for less, but if you need to stay cool ... this may be the place! Customer Service: fine Similar Courses Played: Looks like an older course that has been passed by with the newer courses in this rapidly growing area .... in 7 days of golf in the area, this was my least favorite course (and cost me as much as a resort course) ... but it served its purpose on a hot day when I couldn't have taken the baking of open links style courses close by with 108 heat. Generally a place for locals, or beginners, but not a destination.

| | Reviewed by: Roy 1, Shoots in the 80s Summary: You know you're in for a somewhat unusual round when you're on the 1st tee and there's a busy street to the right of the hole. This is a short 18 hole course. 6000 from the tips. It's basically built in old cow pastures with a good deal of water. The course is fairly narrow. Tee boxes and fairways are in tough shape. However, the greens are fairly decent. The course out-of-bounds areas can be peoples back yards. You also have to keep an eye on the group behind you as tee's and greens are fairly close to each other. There are a couple of goofy holes also. #14 has many trees in the middle of the fairway. There are a number of blind flags. Our round was very long, 5 1/2 hours on the weekend. Still this course has its merits. It makes you think and the holes are interesting and it is beautiful because of the river which runs through it. Flat and very walkable. The many trees make for a nice course in the summer. Customer Service: Okay. Similar Courses Played: Has a small driving range on mats.

| | Reviewed by: Daryl, Shoot in the 80s, from Mission Viejo Summary: Short little course. Some funky little holes, #1 is a 90 yard par three. A lot of layup holes, but also some holes you can cut it loose on with a driver. There is plenty of water, the Carson River and little tributaries cut throughout the course. There are better golf courses in the carson valley or tahoe to play if you are vacationing, but it you have an open afternoon to play, this is a fun little course. It's been washed out a couple of times during floods, but the management has spent some money on it the last couple of years and it's been in great shape. Don't expect any mancuring outside of the greens and fairways. There are a lot of dirt paths. Small greens and not a lot of bunkering. Most of the fairways are treelined. Similar Courses Played: The facilities aren't anything to speak of. Nice bar. Crappy carts, you can walk it.
