    Summary:
11 of us just played the Old Course, Anderson's Glen. Really liked the layout. Many of the greens are cut into the hillside or have mounds built around them to make them look friendly. But many have at least 2 sand traps which are a challenge. There is water on about 4 holes adding to their thoughtfulness. We played in February so the greens were a little slow but as true as winter golf can be. There is enough fairway for all but the most errant shot.

    Customer Service:
The clubhouse was open and welcoming. Nice spot for after golf lunch.

    Similar Courses Played:
Our group has played about 25 courses in the past year from Worcester to Providence to Hartford and Springfield.
Westover, Oak Ridge in Agawam, Cedar Knob and Rolling Meadow in Conn, Shining Rock and Blissful Meadows in Central Mass. I think Blackledge (Old) is one of the most interesting while not being a monster that gobble up golf balls.

    Summary:
Nice views, good conditions, but poorly managed. The Anderson Glen course and the back 9 Gilead Highlands provide some of the best views in CT golf. Avoid this course on weekends! A 5 hour round would be considered fast. Somewhat overpriced. Tallwood (just a mile away) is a much better value.

    Customer Service:
Hit and miss. The people seem to be nicer at Anderson. There are some crochety old guy working at Gilead.

    Similar Courses Played:
three putting greens, no driving range, decent clubhouse.

    Summary:
I grew up near Blackledge, but moved away for college and beyond. I went back to visit my old "track" and found a great new course. It wasn't the same course my Grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles played anymore. The owner made this course one of the best kept secrets in the state. He transformed it from an 18 hole muny to a wonderful 36 hole test of golf. The original 18 is a great test, up and down hills...rivers and ponds, stone walls. The greens were in wonderful condition. The new 18 has many of the same features, but if you were to play both you would swear that you had played two different courses, in two different states!!
Love this course, and you can't beat the price (I am used to some $$$ courses in FL)
