    Summary:
Shaker Hills is the best public course in Massachusetts except for Taconic (which is stupid cash without Williams credentials). The staff is great. The pace of play is great. 3-4-5 is awesome. I've never had a bad time at Shaker. Quality layout, reasonable price that includes range balls and cart. Nice restaurant and bar area. None of my friends have ever said anything but "Shaker is a great course."

    Customer Service:
Great. Top notch. They run this club like a private club.

    Similar Courses Played:
Taconic, The Ranch, Crumpin Fox, Granite Links, Stowe Acres, Blackstone National, RedTail, Pinehills, Waverly, Breakfast Hill (NH), Captains, Townsend Ridge, Ledges (ME)

    Summary:
good but not great course . the staff needs to lighten up a bit and get over themselves . lots of " rules " and " don't do's " with a lecture before the round - I came here to enjoy myself - not get scolded - give your customers some credit . carts on the cart paths only make for a lot of walking back and forth - this was one of the great early public courses over 10 years ago but there are better choices now

    Customer Service:
needs work on the course - lighten up !!

    Summary:
Without a doubt, Shaker Hills is a very good golf course. The description of holes 3, 4 and 5 as being the most difficult in New England has a lot of merit. Indeed, the whole front nine is a challenge.

The course, at the moment, isn't in the best shape - greens were cored recently (early May 2001) and before that had suffered badly through the winter.

Shaker is almost always busy and that has meant some five hour rounds - hard to stomach.

    Summary:
My favorite course in the state. Everytime I have played the course was in excellent condition, showing good maintenance practices (ie, the tee markers were moved so the tee boxes weren't moonscaped). That doesn't happen everywhere.

Challenging layout (for me), plenty of pitfalls for the unwary golfer. It is easy to lose balls here if you aren't swinging well that day.

    Customer Service:
The staff is courteous and extremely helpful.

    Similar Courses Played:
    Great pro-shop and clubhouse.
