| | Reviewed by: 3putt, Shoots in the 90s Summary: Challenging course with back-to-back par threes on the back nine. very fast and tricky contoured greens. very well maintained. many of the holes run to close together anf the construction of houses has really ruined the original layout. Rough will penalize bad shots but not to the degree Pine Hills does. Customer Service: Good attendants and polite proshop personel Similar Courses Played: Scotland Run without skydivers

| | Reviewed by: JerseyCritic, Shoots in the 80s Summary: Deerwood is a club that is yet to decide what it is or isn’t. It’s open to the public but it really relies on member play. It originally played into fairly open and unguarded terrain; however, continuous construction seems to choke the course a little more each time I have visited. The course opens with holes that play into a marshy area where the wind is usually strong and unobstructed. The back nine transitions into a more wooded, traditional parkland style of golf. Although the JerseyCritic enjoys variety in a golf course, this transition is representative of this golf course; representative in the pejorative sense. They have a clubhouse that is supposed to be temporary, yet it appears that it may be permanent. The range is short and irons only. The practice green is located where the permanent clubhouse is supposed to reside, but since that clubhouse is in limbo the practice green resides in no mans land between #1 green and #2 tee. It is worth noting that if and when the clubhouse is built, #1 will become #18, and #2 will become #1. However, it is not clear when any of that might take place. You might be surprise to hear me say that Deerwood is a very nice golf course despite all of its self-induced confusion. Customer Service: I've had great service there, but I always play with a member. The rates here are not conducive to guest play. This is a good golf value if you pay under $60 to play, otherwise it comes up somewhat short.
