| | Reviewed by: nucmnud, Shoots in the 90s Summary: snobs run this place. i will never play it again. rangers a pushy and obnoxious. there was no one in front or behind us and they still felt the need to play forecaddie. cut back on the rudeness and rangers and they can cut greens fees. it's supposed to be a friendly leaisurely game but at black bear it's cram em the course and make em run. the rangers detracted from the day so much i forgot the course. Customer Service: pro-shop was polite & professional, rangers are bullies who perfer to interfer then assist play. Similar Courses Played: none.

| | Reviewed by: nymetrogolfer, Shoots in the 90s Summary: This course has without question the most pushiest rangers of all the NJ public courses. My 4-some and I lagged behind the group ahead of us due to some lost balls, and the ranger kept bugging us, thus ruining what was supposed to be a relaxing round of golf. The funny thing is that there was no one behind us. We weren't slowing anyone down at all! As far as the course itself, its a decent, fairly challenging mountain course with a nice clubhouse. But those rangers ruined my experience and I will never go again. I tell all my friends at work not to play there and recommend Skyview instead (the rangers there are extremely nice and not pushy).

| | Reviewed by: Bryan Kay, Shoot in the 80s, from Montclair, NJ Summary: I play this track 4-10 times a year and I love it. It is a scenic gem, particularly in the early fall. The course is very well maintained and the greens are excellent. The over all layout and setup is challenging, but fair. Not so tough that you get discouraged, but if you go to sleep out there you will be hunting in the forest for your next shot.
The back nine is set high in the hills, making for some spectacular elevation changes and views. The greens vary from subtle to multi-tiered, with a couple of Pinehurst#2 style upside down saucers for good measure. Similar Courses Played: The staff is polite and friendly.
