| | Reviewed by: Richard Farren, Shoot in the 80s, from New York, NY Summary: Course is challenging, small Donald Ross greens, moderate length, fairly hilly with many blind tee shots but only two blind greens for long hitters. Unusual opening par four drops approximately 150 feet from tee to green with a pond limiting tee shot to four iron or less for long hitters, depending on wind with small landing area for viable second shot. The second hole is one of the longest par threes anywhere and can be stretched to almost 270 yards. First tee and eighteenth fairways have a panoramic view of the Palisades three miles distant and the Hudson River a mile away. Course is well maintained, with much bent grass, although tree lined fairways on back 9 sometimes cause fairways to be slightly thin. Bunker sand is not uniform. Water comes into play on 8 holes with out-of-bounds a factor on 15 holes. The ninth hole (444 yards uphill) is one of the more difficult par 4's in Westchester. Greens can be deceptive, with hidden undulations in some greens. Similar Courses Played: Restaurant is one of the best around with a fabulous wine list; Teaching pros are almost always available and are very good; The pro shop has excellent offerings but only sells Titleist balls
