Reviewed by: golferbob37, Shoots in the 80s Summary: Cedar Ridge is a decent, unassuming little course in the farm country near Gettysburg. Our group of travelling seniors played here today for $14, with the Tee Time Book, a pretty good deal. Course is very straightforward on the front, with a couple of tricky holes (#10 and #15), and a VERY short par 3 (#11) on the back. Do NOT overclub on these three. Greens are smallish, and about a third are heavily contoured (#4, 5, 7, 10, 12, 17). All are usually fairly slow. Fairways are pretty generous, minimal rough, and a fair number of trees. There is some water coming into play on about six holes, but it's not especially hard to avoid. Conditions today: Tee boxes were hard and starting to burn out: fairways were almost all brown and very hard - lots of run whether desired or not: bunkers were in good shape: greens looked good and putted true, but were a bit slow. I think the course has a sprinkler system, as we saw spray heads in various places, but it does not look like it gets used very much, except around the greens. No ranger or beverage cart on the course. Pebble Beach it ain't, but Cedar Ridge is decent low-fee course that's worth a look. Customer Service: Pro shop is minimal, usually staffed by one older guy, and they make it all work. The bar is terrific: pitcher of Yeungling for $5.00, excellent (and large) order of fries for $2.00, and their crab soup is OUTSTANDING!! Similar Courses Played: Flatbush and Quail Valley in Littlestown, Glade Valley in Walkersville. Clustered Spires in Frederick is much better, as is The Bridges in Abbottstown.
