| | Reviewed by: mikem, Shoots in the 80s Summary: This is my home course and one of my favorite to play. You have to take Alaska golf for what it is and it's hard to compare to lower 48 courses.
The grass is usually spotty in the fairways due to winter kill. It takes it until late July-August to fill in semi decently. The greens start very badly. You don't really hit it to the hole as much as in the general direction because there may or may not be grass between your ball and the hole. Late in the year it fills in but the early months are brutal to putt. This is true for most of the courses in Alaska. The weather is just a grass killer up here so early golf is a bit dicey on any course up here.
The course itself is a great layout. You have to hit the ball strait as the rough is unforgiving. Most drives leave you about 120-150 out. Very challenging course but lots of fun to play. The back 9 opens up substantially so if you slice or hook you will have opportunity to scramble on most holes.
Club house people are very friendly and helpful. Well worth the visit.
