    Summary:
Oakmont Santa Rosa, California is my home course. I play 2X per week here. I marshall the course on Sundays.

The courses are parkland lay-outs with plenty of big trees, some water hazards, some narrow fairways, not a lot of sand bumkers. The east short course is a par 62. The east course is actually prettier than the par 71 west course. Lots of animals roam the course: deer, rabbits, squirrels, quail, various waterfowl. I kid the superintendent that we should charge a Zoo admission fee for non-golf tourists to see the wildlife.

Even on week-ends the course is never crowded. Average play time on Sunday is 3 hours 20 minutes if you tee of before 8:00am. By 2:00pm the course is quiet again & you can usually walk-on at a reduced green fee.

Course condition is good for a public course. Due to the hot summer of 2008, over-watering is causing some muddy spots. Greens are usually smooth and fast. Good putters can make points here, as poor putting companions will often 3 & 4 putt some of the trickier greens.

Why play the crowded Bennett Valley Municipal in Santa Rosa when Oakmont is 14 minutes away?

    Customer Service:
Nicely behaved, friendly people in the shops, restaurants, and patrolling the course. 800 sqaure foot Pro-shop carries major name brands. 5 teaching pros on the payroll. Kids instructors available.

    Similar Courses Played:
Indian Valley, Novato CA. The Meadows, Fairfax, CA. Bennet Valley Municipal Golf, Santa Rosa. Foxtail, Rohnert PArk, CA.

    Summary:
Ive played both the east and the west courses. The east is a great value and you can finish in about 3 hours. Some of the par 3's on the east are really hard and most of the fours force you to be accurate with the driver. It was great fun and its only 11 dollars twilight during the week.

    Customer Service:
customer service was fine. no complaints

    Summary:
First of all, I can't believe that there are no reviews for this course! Oakmont (West course) is an interesting course, nestled in the Sonoma Valley, not far from Santa Rosa. If you enjoy a traditional layout, Oakmont will suit you well. The course meanders through mature landscaping and offers broad fairways and large greens. Not your Oh wow! kind of golf course, but a great place to play, mostly because of it's forgiveness, maturity and very well kept fairways and greens. There are some tough holes too that will challenge the better players.

    Customer Service:
The customer service is both frienly and excellent.

    Similar Courses Played:
Snack bar is good as snack bars go. Restaurant with great views of the course has very good food, not to mention a good selection of wines, by the bottle or glass.
