| | Reviewed by: Dennis_Hawk, Shoots in the 90s, from Calabasas, CA Summary: Not a bad 9 hole course. Flat, and usually
in decent shape. Easy to get on, even on the weekend. Great when you don't have the time for a full 18 hole round. This is
not your typical "pitch & putt" par 3, 9 hole course. Customer Service: Usually very good.

| | Reviewed by: Brab Crouch, Shoots in the 80s, from San Gabriel, CA Summary: Altadena is one of those neighborhood courses that is virtually unknown to those beyond a 10 mile radius. Only nine holes (modified from 18 many moons ago),the course upon first glance appears ordinary and unchallenging. However, if you're not on your game Altadena will actually pose a darn good challenge for your money. Some of the holes are huge (the 1st and last), fairway trees are hungry, and the greens are deceptive (somehow the greens are quicker than they look, and they never slope the way you might guess).
Some folks have no trouble whatsoever on this course, yet others get eaten up entirely. Customer Service: Very good. Similar Courses Played: Comfortable lounge and refreshment patio.
Nice driving range.

| | Reviewed by: punky811, Shoots in the 80s, from Eau Claire, WI Summary: The course has been reconfigured since the previous three reviews here. The first hole is now the short par 4 to the far east of the course. The putting green is still where the old number one hole was and the chipping green is by the new number one tee. Reversing these greens would be appropriate.
This is a course that on the surface seems straight forward and unchallenging. It is deceptively challenging. Most all of the holes require an accurate drive and punishes wayward drives in the treelines on either sides of the fairways.
The course slopes significantly from north to south and the fall line of the greens is not directly north-south as it first appears, but is NNE-SSW. This not only affects putting, it also affects the approach shots, lengthening the uphill ones and shortening the downhill ones. Additionally, the greens are tabletopped and contoured and are difficult to putt even for the experienced golfer familiar with the course.
If you can keep you drives in the middle of the fairway, this course can be brought to its knees, but the smallest mistakes are magnified and the occasional high score on a hole are not unusual. This course provides challenges for every level of golfer. Customer Service: Top notch, personable, warm and efficient in the pro shop and the resautant. The restaurant has a litmited menu and a full bar but the menu items are well prepared and the staff is friendly.
The driving range is large and adequate.

| | Reviewed by: Russ Wiederspahn, Shoot in the 80s, from Glendale, CA Summary: Created by William Bell, changed from 18-hole club to 9-hole muni 50 years ago. Would have been nice to play the original. Currently fairways are shoddy, bunkers recently improved, range much upgraded, putting, chipping and sand practice available. Has its challenges, 1st hole very long par 4, several greens are Donald Ross-like saucers, shedding poor shots in every direction, #9 a legit 3-shot par 5, good closer. In summer, greens putt like Augusta National, fast and frustrating. Definitely worth a visit, easy to get on, usually not too slow, 2-hours for 9 if the lady's league ain't playing. Similar Courses Played: None
