Played just once. Links layout is long. Narrow fairways punish left sided players who are not dead accurate drivers. Uh, that would include me.
If the day is windy, some holes can be especially difficult.
The beauty of this location is that Petaluma weather is very similar to San Francisco, in that the weather is mild all year long. With the exception of the days from late November to early March when heavy rain occasionally precludes play, you can play all year long.
Course is long enough to almost require a cart. At 55 years of age I would NEVER consider walking this course, it'd kill me - And I'm in pretty good physical condition for an old guy.
Greens are lumpy & bumpy. Poorest condition greens I've played in 15 years. I'm an excellent putter, I had trouble sinking putts here.
Thick hay-like sedge grass bordering all fairways will grab irons or unpredictably skid the club heel right into the ball casuing a skulled shot.
Sand Bunkers have 1/2 inch of sand on top of clay adobe. Skulled shots here are frequent.
Rough is really rough. 5 foot tall & thick grass borders some ditches which are in-bounds. I lost several balls here. Customer Service:
Nice folks, but the ain't many of them in the shop or restaurant. This course seems to be minimally staffed and maintained. I think that the course is up for sale - To be developed for more housing. Similar Courses Played:
Nearest other links course is Bodega Bay. Bodega is a waaaaayyyy better golf course than Adobe Creek.

Pretty fun all around. The links style is definitely a nice change of pace. Some of the greens are huge. So you better be able to putt the long ones. Long hitters play the back nine pretty well. The front nine you need some accuracy as the course cuts thru a neighborhood. Great facilities. Range is off grass. Three huge putting greens. Two chipping. Overall pretty solid. Only downside is that they seem to have upped the price considerably recently. Aside from it being way overpriced its pretty fun just make sure you hit the weekday twilight instead of Sunday morning. Yeah and the bunkers do suck. Customer Service:

Course is a good well architected track. The tees and greens give a player a variety of looks, options and things to think about. In addition, only several holes are parallel to each other enhancing the layout.
Greens are relatively average on the speed side. Probably a 9 on the stimp meter, with a variety of levels and smaller animals buried in them. I would have to disagree with the previous review on the size (for a newer course I think that they are average in size). Rancho Solano's greens in Fairfield are 2-3X the size of these.
The course has been let go a bit. Since it is a links style course, one might think that the rough edges of maintenance are on purpose. Whatever the reason, the rough is cut to a moderate length and is not penalizing making the wide fairways even wider. Rough is course and seems to keep the ball up for a 'fluffy lie'. Fairways are a little shaggy most of the time, but tolerable.
Bunkers have VERY little sand in them and are laid on hard adobe (no doubt where the name comes from). If you like bunkers that truly penalize for entering, these are for you. No matter your expertise in the sand, your first shot out of these bunkers will haunt you for the rest of the round cautioning you when out in the fairway to stay clear of them around the greens. Alternatively the lack of sand makes the fairway bunkershot easier.
Beware of the 7th hole. By this I mean it can stack up there. I have seen up to 4 groups waiting to hit on this tee. This is due to OB on the left, creek on the right, dogleg right fairway, with a semi-blind landing area. Coincidentally, it is the number 1 handicap hole. Pack a lunch and bring some extra beverages. If you bring enough extra goodies, you can make back the money you spent on the round selling them to the others who are waiting to tee off.

I was a walk on, but near the end of the day, some idiot was pulling the flagsticks on the last 4 holes and replacing them with the bunker rakes. That is the first time I have ever seen such a blatant disregard for the golfer, just so the minimum wage cart dude could get home early to prepare for beer drinking binges that evening. Beware the service in the Bar and the snack shack. I once asked the bartender at the turn if the had any hotdogs. His response was Yes, but I had to walk another 50 yards away from the 10th tee to the snack shack to get one. The service was, at one time, the worst I have seen. They are improving know that they are under new management.

Very nice and well maintained course. Has to have some of the largest greens in Northern California, there were a few holes in which I was on the green on two but still had a 100 foot putt in front of me that broke at least 3-4 times uphill. The greens are also very fast. Similar Courses Played:
