    Summary:
I've always enjoyed the wide open fairways but you need an auto-dialer to get a weekend tee time. Rough is LONG!

    Summary:
Holes are basically unremarkable in their design. Pretty flat mostly straight. Rough around the greens is too long. The greens themselves are the worst I have played spongy, bumpy and slow..not true at all. Easy to get on most of the time and rates have been lowered. Bunkers need new sand they are all hard.

    Summary:
I have got to believe the reviewers below that are complaining about the tee times & pace play exclusively on the weekends. I have played about 40 rounds there in the last two years and played this course off and on for fifteen. If you stay away from the weekends, you can complete a round in 4 1/2 hours, 5 hours on a bad day. I almost always go there as a walk-on and rarely have to wait more than half an hour to get on. The later in the week, the more traffic you will encounter.
Well maintained for a Muni. Flat and mostly open fairways. Not a lot of trouble except when they let the rough grow, which they have been doing more than not the last year and a half. Expect some wind. Good course for beginners or to tune-up after a layoff. Greens have some interesting undulations & greenskeepers seem to be setting up more challenging hole locations than in the past. Otherwise the course layout is pretty unremarkable.

    Summary:
Those other guys must have too much time on their hands or just be very angry. It's not all bad out there, gentlemen. For first- or second year players, San Jose Muni is a flat, fair, well-kept facility that rewards players who can keep their tee shots fairly straight. Greens are challenging.
I've played three times and never had a major back up on the course. For up-tight Silicon Valley types, like the other reviewers above, this won't do...but for a good afternoon of medium-paced golf, its alright.

    Summary:
This is an old muni course which is a victim of the Silicon Valley boom. It is ordinary, ordinary, ordinary, but is just completely overrun with people from the crack of dawn to the last peek of light. If you can believe it, people book tee times that have 20 minutes of playable light. It isnt cheap either. You can come out after work and try to walk on with an hour of light left, and people will still be swarming the first tee. If you do get on, you will find a flat, straight boring golf course. Do yourself and the pro shop guys a favor and stay away if at all possible. If you are a visitor to the area and have the bucks, try Cinnabar Hills, which is about a half hour south in the Santa Cruz Mountain foothills. That is a great course.

    Customer Service:
The pro shop staff does what it can, and does well, considering what they have to deal with.
