    Summary:
Played North and South on consecutive days in July 2008 during a golf/spa package visit. The condition of the course was decent for the middle of summer with some burned areas of the fairways. All greens were in good shape. Layout was fun and a good challenge (usually shoot low to mid 80's) and I shot a 40 on the back nine on the North. The South course is a much more difficult round of golf with more narrow fairways. The course has history and they try to bring that history out with stories on some of the signs but I began to notice that some stories didn't necessarily correspond to those holes. It also gave the impression of a "has been" atmosphere because you could tell the signs were old. All in all, not a bad two days of golf.

    Customer Service:
This is why I wouldn't return. We were hotel guests. I arrived the first morning at 830AM with intention of hitting the range. I was told the range didn't open until 10AM which seems odd. Then a second attendant told me it just opened at 850AM. I found my bag sitting near the carts and got my key from the pro shop. There was one attendant who seemed barely interested in putting my bag on a cart. So I found a cart, put my bag on and off I went. Upon return, again, one attendant busy with two players who just came in and no others with any time to wipe down my clubs. I parked, pulled my bag and left. The second day was only a little better. Come on, La Costa, I play at semi-private and public courses near home in Virginia and the staff are more willing and abundant on a golf course that costs a 1/3 of what La Costa runs. This facility pales in comparison to my favorite resort, The Greenbrier, and costs just as much per round. Very disappointing.

    Summary:
I played the North Course at La Costa in February of 2006 (two weeks before the Accenture Match Play Tournament) and I fell in love with the course. The atmosphere, greens, fairways, and the staff were first rate. While the course is very expensive, it is a must for golf fans. Shooting par on a few of the holes that the "big boys" blew up on was also very nice:)

    Summary:
Played the North course on July 23rd, 2005.No one bothered to tell us the 4th thru 12th were in terrible shape due to the construction of new cart paths. Fairways were in very bad condition because of the heavy equiptment being used. Most of the paths and many of the fairways were mud and dirt. They charged us the same price as the South($190)that was in good shape.

    Customer Service:
Poor! Neither the assistant in the pro shop or the starter warned us about the poor conditions. One of the young men loading the carts warned us we might not be happy with what we would find. After we completed our round we complained to the assistant in the pro shop and his attitude was that he did'nt really care.
