| | Reviewed by: Martin Chung, Shoot in the 80s, from Carson, CA Summary: This course is a lovely place. A 9 hole par 3 course. Hidden in Manhattan Beach behind the Marriot, it is a well kept run that is a bargain at $11. Longest hole is a 177 yd over water. The first thing that I noticed is that the entire course looks like a big fairway with golfers hitting in all directions. Not many trees and not much rough (though what there is long). The beauty of the course lies in the use of water. Right off the bat on hole one, you are hitting short over water. Actually, the water is not an issue since it only takes about 60 yards to cross, but the lady that teed off in front of me lost 4 balls in a row. Where the water is a challenge is hole 8. You have to get a solid hit of about 140 yards to cross it. Otherwise, you will be hitting "safe" to the right. There is a lot of elevation change, although you will never tee off uphill. Personally, I found it easy to stick the greens. Very straightforward. Customer Service: Rather indifferent staff, but then again, the U.S. Open was on TV :) Similar Courses Played: Minimal pro shop. For sale: used golf balls. If you need liquid, you need to trek into the Marriot.
