Summary:
An absolute must play if you enjoy golf at all. Besides the seaside courses in Monterey, this is my favorite course in Northern California. If this is an average design for Richard Phelps (the architect), I will play all of his courses.

Course is challenging, but fair. If you shoot your handicap or better here, you WILL remember it forever.

Fairways are not as narrow as the views from the tee boxes would have you believe. Oak trees overhang into the fairways giving it the look of a 'hit it straight or your dead' course. Pretty straight forward off the tee. Phelps likes to design courses where trouble is apparent to the player.

Long at 7150 from the tips. But above-average difficulty when playing shorter tees without ridiculous design flaws put in by designer to inflate scores. Only 2 holes will trick the first timer. #10 has a severe back to front sloping green, balls MUST be below the hole with any chance for par. # 16 must be played to the left side of the fairway for any hope of getting to the green unless you can slice (right handed) 175-200 yard shot 100 yards from right to left. The rest are pretty straight up and the book they give you will tell you the rest of where to be for proper position.

Voted the most 3-puttable greens in the greater Sacramento area. They live up to the reputation. We played the following weekend and they were every bit of 10 on the stimp meter. Greens are relatively up and down and around, but with the speed, they are a force to be reckoned with.

The highlight of the course is that almost none of the holes parallel each other and with the oak trees, layout, hills, and not one home on the course, this is a cozy walk in the country. With the exception of the group in front of you and behind, one gets the feeling that your foursome is the only one out there.

Phenomenal setting!!!!!!!! Course is immaculate. Bunkers are excellent. Tees and fairways cut low. Rough is very tough when long.

NOTE: get a cart the first time unless you are in great shape. Course is up and down and really UP from 17 green to 18 tee.

Customer Service:
Excellent customer service and pampering. Only the Raven in Phoenix is treats you better. But I hear that the Raven staff is the best Nation wide at that.

Summary:
LPGA holds tournament there in April. Very Nice course, quiet, very peaceful and relaxing setting. Fairways are narrow so you must hit the ball straight to keep out of trouble. Very fast greens, first time I played it was the monday after the tournament and you would think the ball was going to stop and it would roll another 3 feet or more.
My hat is off to the putting skills of the pros...
