| | Reviewed by: mnoga, Shoots in the 70s Summary: The Bridges is a relatively new course that is similar to many of the recently constructed high-end daily fee courses in the San Francisco Bay Area. Generally, these courses are built on rather harsh terrain requiring forced carries over ravines or barrancas. On many of the holes, balls hit too far left or right, are "gonzo." Even for relatively low handicappers, a course like The Bridges, will be a challenge. It is imperative that you pick the right set of tees to play from. Check your "macho image" at the door, because "disgression is the better part of valor." If you shoot in the high 70s, expect to shoot in the mid-80s. Gear down and lay-up when you find yourself facing a shot you couldn't pull off 8 out of 10 times. Try to play this course under the best conditions -- light wind, temps in mid to upper 70s, and wait for several days after any rain, as this course does not drain very well. Summer and early to mid Fall are best times since you will get more roll on your drives, although greens may be a bit firmer. Overall, there are lots of good solid holes on this course, with a few that fall into the "ball-buster" category where you must be both long and straight to have any chance at par. This course is probably best left to lower handicaps (say 15 or less), otherwise the # of lost balls and frustration may not make it an enjoyable day. And, don't expect to shoot a good score the first time you play the course.
A good score can be had if you hit it fairly straight and solid, AND you understand your limitations. Customer Service: New carts, club cleaning after the round, nice staff, and beautiful club house. I give it about 4.5 out of 5 stars. Similar Courses Played: The Ranch, San Juan Oaks, Cinnabar Hills, Wente, Poppy Ridge, Eagle Ridge.

| | Reviewed by: Colin Wood, Shoots in the 100s, from Singapore Summary: This links style course forms the centrepiece of a new housing development just outside San Ramon. Its a very tight course built around a fairly deep ravine. The terrain and the nature of the design combine to make the ball roll to the right on most of the fairways. In other words the holes take on a certain "sameness" after you've played a few. In terms of degree of difficulty this course is quite challenging and not for the beginner. I played on a beautiful sunny and still day and it wasn't too hard to stay in play but it was obvious that in windy conditions The Bridges would be are real challenge. The signature 17th hole requires several long shots over unplayable terrain before reaching the green. The facilites - club house, buggy, course furniture etc. - are first class and the people very friendly. Having not played any other courses in the area I am unsure how The Bridges compares. It may be a little expensive ($75) compared to other local tracks but overall it was a very enjoyable place to play. Recommended. Customer Service: Excellent.

| | Reviewed by: Walt Bouchard, Shoots in the 80s, from Concord Ca Summary: This course is one of the toughest I've ever played! Dont bother with the driver as you only need to hit it 3 or 4 times, as the course is narrow with no landing area off the fairways. The staff is friendly and the course is in great shape, but bring your A game and a couple dozen gold balls! Customer Service: Excellent Similar Courses Played: None

| | Reviewed by: J. C., Shoot in the 100s, from San Ramon Summary: Extremely difficult course if you don't have a great off-T shot, not nearly as difficult if you can keep your balls straight.
Well maintained fairways, scratchy greens, narrow rough, very narrow.
Side note, beautiful sorrounding. Customer Service: Not as friendly as the price suggests, but easy going staff. Similar Courses Played: Great range that opens till 9pm everyday, 6pm on monday though....

| | Reviewed by: EV, Shoot in the 90s, from Daly City Summary: Excellent course. Makes you think what type of shot you need to make. This course isn't as difficult as I've heard but it is alot of fun, I've played a couple other Johnny Miller courses that are alot harder than this course such as Stonetree in Novato. Narrow fairways so you'll be playing target-golf most of the day. Be sure to use the complimentary yardage book so you know how far the hazards and ravines are and you can plan your shots because there are holes where you have blind shots. Undulating and fast greens, if you're not careful you'll be three putting. Customer Service: Very friendly staff especially the marshalls. They made sure the flow of play was always moving without it backing up. Similar Courses Played: Top quality range and putting green.
