| | Reviewed by: lythgoe, Shoots in the 80s Summary: Loved the course, in great shape, very interesting. Unique layout with lots of interesting holes and good views. One of our favorites on Big Island. A little pricey, but the golf Hawaii card brought it down to a good value ($65 after 11am). Customer Service: Excellent, very nice. Similar Courses Played: Makalei, Kona CC, Luana Hills, Ko'olau, Vail Eagle, The Coast (Sydney), Sonnenalp, Cotton Ranch, Lost Canyons

| | Reviewed by: Barry Willis, Shoot in the 80s, from Kailua-Kona, Hawaii Summary: I play the Hapuna resort golf course several times a week. An Arnold Palmer design, it has a lot of variety. Most men play the blue tees or the white tees but I get a kick out of the black tees--the tournament tees which are all the way back. The black tees allow you to use a driver on almost all but the par 3s. Using the white (actually they're orange) tees restricts you driver quite a bit and you end up having to use a 3-wood from the tees so you don't over-drive the preferred landing area. The greens are always in good shape and capable of handling a soft ball with backspin and responding accordingly. Putting includes understanding that the break is two-fold: down from Moana Kea and down toward the ocean because of the grain. Other than these characteristics, putting is about as straight-forward as a guy can expect. The staff there is the friendliest on the Big Island. They seem genuinely interested in maximizing your experience. It's kind of spendy, but it's an interesting course and well worth your visit to the Kohala (north of Kona) coast. Customer Service: I live there and love it. They make me feel at home. Similar Courses Played: Several good PGA instructors on staff.
