| | Reviewed by: Toicat, Shoots in the 80s Summary: Lacuna Golf & CC is located in Lake Worth just off Lyons Road. It's a beautiful setting for this Joe Lee designed golf course.
Our group played this in May, 2006 shortly after the greens were aerated. The $25 greens fee was reflected in this price, to which I applaude the manangement for concession. How many times have you paid your money ONLY to find out the the greens are sanded over?
It was our understanding that the club is making many improvements in an attempt to rebuild the course. From the Blue tees it plays around 6,350 yds. Not a lot of imagination, but several hurricanes have relandscaped many of the local golf courses down here.
The bad news first. The fairways still have some weed issues and are cut too tight in respect to the fullness of the grass. Read into this "hardpan" approach shots. The bunkers were not filled evenly with sand, so it was necessary to make more upright wedge plays into the green off of packed sand. The fairway bunkers that were sand filled had the gray shellrock type of sand which is hell on your club face grooves.
The good news is that the starter did not allow the tee times to be overrun with golfers. Thank you! Our foresome was able to finish in about 3hr 20 min, which is great for a 8:30 am weekend starting time. The course has a practice range and putting green. $7 for a large bucket. The par 3's & 5's are exceptionally long, and the par 4's are kind of short. I recall a couple that would be almost drivable by some of the younger players.
Based on some talk from the regular players there, the course should continue to improve.
My recomendation is to play the course as a "warmup" to some other local entrees. For the money, you can't go wrong. I don't think Lacuna is up to "must play" status yet, but as they say, " A bad day on the golf course, ..." Customer Service: Very nice people in the clubhouse, beverage cart came around once on each side. Clubhouse has a restaurant and bar with good food.

| | Reviewed by: Wayne, Shoot in the 100s, from Casselberry, FL, USA Summary: Great course layout. Beautifully shaped holes. Moderately difficult holes. Definitely recommend playing from the Blue Tees. That additional length makes the Par 3 holes more challenging. Be prepared for slow play. Very popular course in Palm Beach County.
