| | Reviewed by: gdhowe, Shoots in the 80s Summary: I live in Jacksonville so I've had a few (3) opportunities to play the course. I have also attended the The PLAYERS Champ. on numerous occassions and so I am very familiar with the course. As a previous reviewer commented, the course is very difficult but a visual pleasure to play. I recommend the middle tees unless you are just kicking *ss and taking names. I think you could say that 14 of the 18 holes are like the finishing holes on other nice courses only with more potential trouble. You can easily see that this course is not a natural layout but very manufactured. With that said, it is so cool to play holes where a waist area runs along almost the entire side of a par four hole or the use of bulk heads identifies a risk reward opportunity. In their attempt to add visual stimulation to the course, the tour brass added white sand to the bunkers like the "Masters" has. If the rough is up you will need alot of extra balls. I hit a reasonabe second shot on 14 and it landed short and slightly right of the fairway (4-8 feet) and I couldn't find it. (Frustrating to say the least, although I didn't have a caddie like they require now) Standing on the elevated tee boxes, I was impressed with the number of hazards a player is faced with on a given hole. The target is obvious on most holes but it was quite another thing to hit the correct shot. I suggest staying away from the course in the summer. The ocean breezes do help. It is HELL here most of the summer. ( Mid June to Late Sept.) I recommend the second half of October to early December. I haven't played the sister course "Valley" but everyone I know says it is great too. Note: I understand the course is currently going through a major renovation and is going to be ready soon. You may want to call ahead of booking the Marriott at Sawgrass. Customer Service: Everyone was first class.

| | Reviewed by: Joe, Shoot in the 90s, from Tampa, FL, USA Summary: I was invited to play here by a friend who was a member, so it "only" cost me $125 to play. The one word I took away from the experience was - humbling. Like they say in the PGA commercial - "these guys are good!" I did par the famous 17th island green, which was pretty cool, but the rest of the day, I felt that I was struggling to play. I really wasn't hitting the ball that poorly, it's just that there is ZERO room for error on this course. Do yourself a favor: if you have ever slammed a club to the ground in anger over a bad shot, DO NOT PLAY THIS COURSE, as you won't have any clubs left by the end of the day. But if you're like me, and have at least a decent game, and understand that bad shot results are a part of the game, go ahead and play here. You'll come away with a tremendous appreciation of what a challenge a really tough course can be. And how good the PGA players really are. Similar Courses Played: All facilities are top-notch, of course.

| | Reviewed by: Sean, Shoot in the 90s, from Cincinnati, OH Summary: When I played here the course was in great shape. The greens seemed a little dry and fast, but that is probably because I am from Ohio. The tees were in good condition and so were the fairways. As I was in the fairway hitting my second shot to the green, the maintenance crew was working around the green. Before and as I was getting ready to hit the crew stopped what they were doing so they wouldn't disturb me. I haven't always had that happen. Customer Service: I was made to feel very welcome. I was staying at the Marriot at Sawgrass close to the TPC and tee times were very easy to make because I was able to make them through the Marriot. I recommend staying at the Marriot as well as playing this course. Similar Courses Played: The pro-shop was very nice. It had a wet bar where I got a drink after my round and I also got a great poster of the 17th hole, Island Green.
