| | Reviewed by: MarkDel, Shoots in the 70s Summary: I was not that impressed the first time I played this course, perhaps because it was soaking wet and not much fun to avoid the pools of water, but it has really grown on me over time. What I like about the course is that you pretty much get exactly what you deserve in terms of the shots you hit. A long hitter can definitely overpower the course, especially when the fairways get a little dry and the ball rolls a good distance. With hard fairways, you reach all of the Par-5's in two, except perhaps #2 and #17 if they have the tees all the way back. It is also possible to drive a handful of Par-4's depending on where the tees are and how hard the fairways are. With the right conditions, I could drive #1, #7, #10 and #13 which makes for a lot of fun in terms of the risk/reward factor on this course. Customer Service: Good

| | Reviewed by: Larry Halstead, Shoots in the 90s, from Seminole, FL USA Summary: Good open layout for a public course. Well maintained for very heavy play. Expect 4 1/2 - 5 hours to play on weekends. Large greens. Water hazards more for scenic value than posing problems. Minimal number of traps around greens and in fairways. Customer Service: Excellent service. Friendly staff. Resonable prices. Similar Courses Played: Good practice range. Open nights. ü

| | Reviewed by: Nick , Shoots in the 80s Summary: I've played this course since it first opened. Mangrove can get EXTREMELY crowded, so there's a good chance of 5+ hour rounds. My experience is that they "don't like singles"--their words, not mine. Customer Service: OK Similar Courses Played: None

| | Reviewed by: Mel McKelvie, Shoot in the 80s, from Mississauga,Ontario,Canada Summary: Florida Mangrove Bay
Here's a very good venue. This course is a very user friendly layout as a fair test of golf. I was staying in Madeira Beach so it was a little hike to the course in St. Pete's, but worth the trip. As a single I had no tee off time booked so I had to waite about 35 minutes which as a walk-on at a very busy facility wasn't that bad at all. The course is a good layout with water in play on 12 0f the 18 holes but if your fairly straight you can avoid the hazards with some prudent positioning. I played the course in late March and it was in great shape, being very well maintained with a friendly staff as well. Some holes stand out more than others but as a first time, playing it was a very enjoyable layout. The pins were placed in fair placements through out which makes playing the course much more enjoyable than if they are placed for 'tournament conditions.' The course layout is such that the front and back both have equal numbers of 3’s,4’s, and 5’s. That is 2-3’s 2-5’s, and 5 -4’s. Playing a course for the first time makes me realize how important local knowledge is. The undulation of the greens and where to try and place your shots for the next approach etc. Looking back. The #6 par 5 is a very good, tough hole at 480 yds.and with a little breeze, I managed to missed my par by a whisker and the #8 is quite a good par three that you can take advantage of, so I was able to par it nicely. I found that, both the par 5's on the back difficult, especially the #17 at 530 yards, so bogie was the best that I could manage. I should mention the 12th hole, at 440yds from the blues it is a whopper and a great challenge, so needless to say I bogied it! My impression now is that I'd like to meet the challenge of this course again, playing it just one time gave me a thirst, so it's one that will go into the ledger for a must return next year. I'll be back! Definitely! Customer Service: The response over the phone was very encouraging to come out and play as a single and there would be no problem. Similar Courses Played: Every thing seems to function the way it should.
