Additional Info:
Georgia State Park Golf Course open to public. One of the most scenic golf courses in the South with 10 of the 18 holes located on a peninsula overlooking the waters of Richard B Russell Lake. There are no homes to marr views and the course itself is a challenging somewhat narrow course that offers good players rewards for taking risks. Course length is approximately 6,800 from the back tees but seems to play shorter. Architect is Bob Walker.

The park has a dozen cabins or so for rent and even has a stay & play package that is very reasonable. However, do not expect fine dining or other significant attractions in Elberton, GA. I know because I grew up in Elberton.

Summary:
Fantastic course and unexpected surprise for most that play it for the first time. Ten of the 18 holes are located next to the water and offer some of the best views of any golf course. Fairways are a bit narrow but offer great rewards for those willing to take risks. Greens are generally fast and in general good shape but in heat of summer they do become grainy. Overall, this is one of the best courses in the South and without a doubt one of the most scenic. It is a bit remote for most as is Elberton, GA in general. It is almost 140 miles from metro Atlanta and there is not much in Elberton but those willing to travel it offers one of the best outings period. Also, the park offers cabins and a "stay & play" package that is very reasonable. Go every couple of weeks.
