| | Reviewed by: Nigel, Shoot in the 80s, from Florence, SC., USA Summary: Moved to Florence 4/15/00 (from Portland, OR.) and I've played here six times so far this year. Mature & built around a large lake, this course is part of a small Country Club setting with driving range, tennis courts & outdoor pool facilities available. The golf course has water in play on several holes so remember to bring plenty of balls....just in case!. Front nine is mostly straight & flat, and fairways are generous although tree-lined. Back nine is more varied and challenging with (beginner's take note) a couple of 150 yard carries over the wet stuff required off the tee. Overall course condition is good: tees are kept short, bunkers full & greens well manicured. Most greens are medium to large in size & elevated with run-off on several sides. However, the putting surface slopes towards the fairway and helps your approach shots hold. Greens putt true but have enough subtlety to surprise you now & again. Overall, this course is very enjoyable to play & a good test for golfers of all abilities. Surprisingly, it never seems busy so if you're ever in Florence give it a try!. Customer Service: Friendly service & very easy to get tee-times. Similar Courses Played: Golf carts available. Pro shop stock is limited, although they will order equipment for you. Swimming pool & tennis areas are very popular. Restaurant is worth trying.
